Broxburn and Uphall Community Bus - 2A / 2B

The pilot of the Broxburn and Uphall Community Bus in West Lothian began on Monday 5 April. The service is being delivered by HcL, in partnership with West Lothian Council.

There are 2 routes - 2A and 2B operating Monday to Saturday. Please see attached timetable below for times. Both routes begin at Stewartfield Road with the routes covering:

  • Lidl Broxburn
  • Co-op
  • Strathbrock Partnership Centre
  • Stankards (Houstoun Gardens)
  • Crossgreen Triangle
  • Kirkhill (Arbuckle Grove)
  • Loaninghill Road
  • Timmeryetts (Galmeilen)
  • Dunn Street
  • Wyndford Avenue

The Service operates on a hail and ride basis in residential areas where there are no formal bus stops. Passengers can signal to the driver to stop at any point in these areas, and the driver will stop as soon as it is safe to do so.

All the vehicles used on the 2A and 2B routes are fully accessible and are specially adapted to carry combinations of wheelchair users and other passengers safely and comfortably.

Fares are £2 for adults, and £1 for children, with concessionary bus pass holders able to travel for free (effective from June 2023 and subject to periodic change).

Please have the exact money as no change can be given. Payment by card through contactless payment is accepted.

How many passengers can the bus carry?

The vehicle capacity is 15 seats + 1 wheelchair space. The seating capacity on this service follows Scottish Government Guidance for local bus services. Currently there is no capacity restrictions.

Hail and Ride

Residential areas will be treated as Hail and Ride. This means that although there aren’t always formal bus stops on these streets, passengers can signal to the driver to stop the bus at any point, providing it’s safe to do so. Hail and Ride areas are highlighted on the map for clarification.

What happens if the vehicle is full?

If capacity is reached, signage will be provided at the front of the vehicle to inform passengers that the bus is full.  The driver will be unable to pick up more passengers when this occurs.
